Summer EBT

Summer-EBT is coming to Michigan in 2024!

Mel-Nap families may be eligible to receive money for select food items through a Summer-EBT card this year. This is similar to the Pandemic-EBT card. Although the Pandemic-EBT program has officially ended, the United States Department of Agriculture has approved a permanent Summer-EBT program. Please note: benefits for Summer EBT are only given to families that meet qualifying income guidelines.

Summer-EBT benefits may be used to purchase items such as:

  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Meat, poultry, and fish
  • Dairy products
  • Breads and cereals
  • Snack foods

In order to qualify for the program, families MUST fill out the Education Benefits Form. Only those families that are income-eligible will receive benefits this year.  If you did not fill out the form at the beginning of the school year and would like to be considered for the Summer-EBT program, please fill this out ASAP and return it to your child’s teacher or the main office. The state of Michigan will be collecting data in early February to determine eligible students. If your information is not received by that date you may not be considered for benefits.
