We are pleased to inform you that the Melvindale-Northern Allen Park school district will continue participating in the Community Eligibility Provision of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program.
The great news is that all students enrolled in our school district are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household.
It is important that you fill out and sign the Education Benefits Form for Title 1 and 31a Benefits, which is needed for administrative purposes, not to determine eligibility. This survey allows our school to benefit for various State and Federal supplemental programs like Title I A, at Risk (31a), Title II A, E-rate, etc. This survey is critical in determining the amount of money the district receives from a variety of educational supplemental programs. The survey must be completed and returned to your student(s)’s school as soon as possible.
All information on the survey is confidential. Without your assistance, the school cannot maximize utilization of available State and Federal funds. The household surveys will be sent home with students.
School Meal Charging Information
Students with cash or money in their lunch account will be allowed to purchase a la carte items such as a second entree, milk for bagged lunches, or other a la carte items. These a la carte purchases cannot be charged to a student’s lunch account.
School Meal Information
Breakfast is available for your student every day! At Rogers Elementary School and Allendale Elementary School, free breakfast is served in the classroom first thing in the morning. Please make sure your students arrive to school on time and make their morning count by eating with the classmates!
At Strong Middle School and Melvindale High School, free breakfast is available before school starts. Breakfast service starts 7:00 a.m. at the high school and 7:15 a.m. at the middle school. Please make sure your student gets to school early to start their day off right with breakfast!
At the elementary schools, students receive a free lunch, but they still are able to bring a lunch from home if they choose. Milk can be purchased to go along with their home lunch, the cost is $0.50. To receive a free milk, they must take the entire school lunch.
At the secondary level, extra entrees, milk for lunches from home, and a la carte items can be purchased with cash or with money in the student’s lunch account. Parents can put money in their student’s account electronically using MyPaymentsPlus. Visit www.mypaymentsplus.com follow the on-screen instructions to create an account. You must have your student’s ID number to set up the account.
Summer EBT
SUN Bucks - Summer EBT
SUN Bucks, formally the Summer EBT program, is available this summer. This program will provide $120 per eligible student to be used toward food costs for the summer months. Some families will receive Summer EBT benefits automatically, but some families will need to apply. Families must meet the income and program requirements to be eligible. Applying for or receiving Summer EBT does not affect the immigration status of your children or family.
If you are already enrolled in benefits like SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid (with income at or below 185% of the poverty level) your child will automatically be enrolled in SUN Bucks. The state will send a notice in the mail if your child is automatically eligible. You will also be categorically eligible if your student is listed as a foster child, homeless, or a runaway.

Families should save their SUN Bucks card for use in future years. Families that already have an EBT card will have benefits loaded onto that card. Please call MDHHS at 833-905-0028 option 2 with any questions or concerns. The school districts are not handling qualifications or processing of EBT cards and will not be much help to answer any additional questions.
Summer Food Service Program
The Meet Up and Eat Up Program will be at Allendale Elementary and Melvindale High School this year. Children 18 years of age and under are allowed to join for a free meal during these times: (no adult meals available)

Allergy Information
MelNap Schools strives to be a safe place for all children to eat. If your child has a diagnosed food allergy, please tell the office at your child's school immediately. If your child needs to receive a special lunch outside of the published lunch menu. the Special Diet Statement form must be filled out and signed by a physician verifying the food allergy. Public schools are not required to accommodate special diet requests that do not constitute a disability or allergy. Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is offered at Rogers and Allendale Elementary Schools. The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a federally assisted program providing free fresh fruits and vegetables to children at eligible elementary schools during the school day. The goal of the FFVP is to introduce children to fresh fruits and vegetables, to include new and different varieties, and to increase overall acceptance and consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce among children. The FFVP also encourages healthier school environments by promoting nutrition education.
