Diversity Club is committed to promoting and exploring the unique diversity of Melvidale High School. Students meet regularly to discuss issues, support each other, and educate each other. The Diversity Club also organizes multiple events to promote togetherness and acceptance at Melvindale High School.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges across the globe.

About DECA

Students will learn about Chinese culture and traditions, such as calligraphy and Chinese paper cutting. Students in the club will communicate with students attending school in China through a distance learning lab experience.

Helping local students prepare for life after high school through scholarships and academic support, to enable post-secondary success.

Dollars for Scholars

Drama Club is a club committed to the performing arts. The Drama Club works year round to develop performances for the community. The Drama Club puts on two shows a year where the students rehearse intensely, design and build detailed production sets.

This club is designed for students interested in competitive gaming. Students will develop team work and compete against student teams in other school districts.

First Robotics: Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. 

We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.

Key Club International, founded in 1925, is an international service program for high school students. Often referred to as simply Key Club, it is a student-led organization whose goal is to encourage leadership through serving others.

Michigan District of Key Club

The Medical Club is a club dedicated to exploring all of the various careers in the medical profession. The medical club also exposes students to the various educational pathways into the field of medicine.

The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921. Learn more about these four pillars of membership here. Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in NHS activities. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, US Territories, Canada, and around the world. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

National Honor Society

Science Olympiad is a co-curricular educational program with a mission to inspire the next generation of scientists, health professionals and engineers. Students have the opportunity to explore topics that often they would not experience in their normal school day. For some activities, the experience is very “hands-on”, as students create designs, solve problems and learn the importance of teamwork.

Michigan Science Olympiad

The Melvindale High School Student Council is a group of elected and volunteer students working together with an adult advisor within the framework of a constitution or bylaws to provide a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities, give opportunities for student experience in leadership and encourage student / faculty / community relations.

The MATE ROV Competition uses remotely operated vehicles (a.k.a. underwater robots) to inspire and challenge students to learn and creatively apply science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to solve real-world problems and strengthen their critical thinking, collaboration, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The MATE ROV Competition challenges students in grades 4-16 from across the U.S. and around the world to engineer ROVs to complete a set of mission tasks based on real-world, workplace scenarios. The competition emphasizes and inspires a mindset of entrepreneurship and innovation by requiring students to transform their teams into “start-up” companies that respond to an RFP. In addition to their robots, the student teams also prepare technical reports, create a marketing (poster) display, and deliver engineering presentations.

MATE ROV Competition

The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program (WOT) is designed to guide, motivate and inspire at-risk young women achieve their full potential through mentoring by highly accomplished professional women and scholarship opportunities.

The mission of YIG is to provide leadership training to meet the needs of a democratic society and to develop an understanding and awareness of Michigan State government and state and national issues, and to create an inclusive environment in which students develop an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of others.
